Alcohol and Drug issues impact on the workplace just as they can on all other aspects of personal and community life. This session will explore how agencies can work with the business community and individuals at work, the benefits that can be achieved and what contribution it can make to enforcement activity. We shall look at techniques for engaging and supporting business interest (including drug contaminated money), drug testing issues, HR policies, Section 8 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Corporate Manslaughter Act. This area of work has been underdeveloped yet offers opportunities to engage with many sections of the community who are often neglected by other approaches. We will also touch on the ACPO approach to this issue and the benefits and problems it can cause enforcement agencies.
