Martin Barnes

CHIEF EXECUTIVE, DRUGSCOPE

Martin Barnes has been Chief Executive of DrugScope since January 2004 and was previously Director of the Child Poverty Action Group. DrugScope is the UK's leading independent centre of information and expertise on drugs. It provides quality drug information, promotes effective responses to drug use, undertakes research and advises on policy-making and good practice. DrugScope encourages informed debate and speaks for its members working in drug treatment, education, prevention, criminal justice and other areas.

Martin is a member of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) and is a member of the ACMD's Implementation Group for Pathways to Problems (who recently published the report on hazardous use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by young people). He has recently joined the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Drugs Committee. Martin is a trustee of the Family Welfare Association and a member of the advisory Board for Transact, the national forum promoting financial inclusion.
