Ian Martin OBE

HEAD OF DRUG STRATEGY UNIT, HOME OFFICE

Ian Martin is the head of the Home Office Drug Strategy Unit which came into being bringing together the teams working on legislation, supply, enforcement, treatment effectiveness, young people, workforce and wraparound services. The unit has responsibility for co-ordinating the delivery of the existing National Drug Strategy and looking forward to beyond March 2008.

It works closely with partners across Government, the Regions and local deliverers. Prior to this, Ian was responsible for programme, performance and financial management within the Drug Interventions Programme. Ian's move into the central Home Office was a significant departure from previous roles which were a mix of frontline delivery, implementation and operational management. He was made an OBE in the 2006 Queen's Birthday Honours List in recognition of his work within the Immigration & Nationality Directorate.
