Dr Emma Wincup is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Leeds, where she is also Director of the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies.
Emma has been conducting funded research on drug use for over 10 years and her projects have included studies of purchasing requirements for drug treatment (for the Welsh Office), youth homelessness and drug use (for the Home Office), the role of the police in drug education (for Hampshire Joint Drug Action Team), and the street policing of problem drug users (for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation). In the late 1990s, Emma was seconded to the National Assembly for Wales to take the lead on developing the Welsh drugs strategy.
