The 2009 ACPO Drugs Conference, Dealing with Demand, from Local to Global took place at the Bristol Marriott City Centre on the 16,17,18 November 2009.

The demands that illegal drugs bring to communities and neighbourhoods have never been more intense. This conference took delegates on a journey of 'dealing with demand' starting with the problems that policing drugs brings at a local level through the eyes of those that are faced with these challenges. It then continued to follow a route which took delegates through regional and national boundaries back to source countries and personal experience of the difficulties addressing global issues in drugs policy and policing. The journey then returned to the streets of the UK identifying, through case studies, workshops and presentations how these demands are being dealt with and exploring how approaches may be improved.
